Self-compassion, Learning to Love All Of Our Parts
An Experiential Class offered by Karen Locke

The class will last 4 weeks, from Weds, May 10 to Weds, May 31, from 7 to 8:30PM Central time ( 8-9:30 PM eastern time, 6-7:30 PM mountain time, 5-6:30 PM Pacific time.). There will be a choice of prices, based on what you feel you can afford: either $15 or $40 for the series.
As I work with myself and others using Internal Family Systems methods, it seems to me that feeling compassionate toward our parts is one of the basic tools we need the most. But it’s not very easy to describe how to make that happen. We need to navigate the journey from having parts that are scared of or avoiding some other parts , to helping parts relax and trust that our Self can handle any fierce, or sad, or lonely, or upset parts that come up.
I’m going to lead a group that will practice this process. We will use exercises, demos, discussion, and readings from my book “Self-Compassion Day By Day” to help find ways to experience these Self-compassionate feelings and attitudes. This will often involve finding and listening to the parts that are nervous about, or flat-out in opposition to, listening to certain other parts. What are they worried will happen? What do they remember about times we’re tried this in the past? How can we develop a Self-to-part relationship with them so the kindness can flow in our system? And then how can this compassion and gentleness spread to the parts who are in desperate need for kindness and love?
I’m hoping most of the people who sign up will be available at these times. If there are a few who aren’t, I’ll be recording most of each session. However, it might be that some sharing will be done by people not wishing to be recorded, so we’ll turn the recorder off at those times. All are welcome!
